WiFi site survey app for Android
Walk the building with the phone in your pocket and turn it into real coverage data. The measurements sync straight into the floor plan you designed in WiFi Weave.
The app (150 MB) is available to account holders from inside WiFi Weave — sign in, open a floor plan, and use Survey Import → Download the Android survey app. The free plan is enough. See plans.
Android 9 or newer. Requires location permission — Android only returns Wi-Fi scan results to apps that have it.
This is a direct download, not a Play Store install. Android will ask you to allow installing from your browser the first time. The app is signed, but it has not been through Play Store review.
What it does
Real measurements, not predictions
Records live signal strength, the access points in range, and channel usage from the phone’s own Wi-Fi radio as you walk.
Positioned on your floor plan
Pins each reading to a location using AR tracking and step-based dead reckoning, so a walk becomes a measured heatmap rather than a list of numbers.
Syncs to your plan
Survey data lands on the same floor plan you designed in WiFi Weave, so predicted and measured coverage sit side by side.
What it is not
A phone radio is not test equipment, and it is worth being clear about the ceiling before you rely on it:
- No RF spectrum analysis — that needs dedicated hardware.
- Positioning drifts on long walks without a reference point.
- Readings come from one phone’s radio, so they reflect that device, not every client.
- Beta software: expect rough edges, and tell us about them.
Common questions
Why Android, when the other tools are iOS?
That is the point. Ekahau’s survey app runs on iOS and Hamina Onsite is Apple-only, which leaves anyone carrying an Android phone unable to survey without buying hardware or a second device. This app is Android-first.
What does it cost?
Nothing. The survey app is free while it is in beta, and it works with the free WiFi Weave plan.
Does it replace a spectrum analyser?
No. It reads what the phone’s Wi-Fi radio can see — signal strength, access points, channels. It does not do RF spectrum analysis, which needs dedicated hardware.
How accurate is the positioning?
It uses AR tracking with step-based dead reckoning, which is good enough to attribute readings to rooms and walkways. It is not survey-grade positioning, and long walks without a reference point will drift.
You will need a WiFi Weave plan to sync surveys into. The free plan works.
